Apply for Financial Aid

This application is for financial aid for summer, winter, and semester programs in Thailand and our summer programs in South Africa. There is currently no financial aid available for our Australia program. Please be sure to fill out the application for admission BEFORE applying for financial aid. Financial aid applications received without an accompanying application for admission will NOT be processed.

Loop Abroad's programs are tailored to hard-working, adventurous students and young adults who display integrity and curiosity in their daily lives. If you fit this description, but the program is outside of your financial abilities, please do not rule out applying.

Our first priority is finding students who will benefit from, bring something unique to, and excel within our programs. We are happy to help you find ways to make our programs a reality for you. Funds are granted on a rolling basis so if you will need financial aid, we strongly encourage you to apply early.

For our two week programs, Loop Abroad has some financial aid awards ranging from $100 to $1,000. Financial aid is provided in the form of a tuition discount. While $1,000 is the maximum financial aid available for summer and winter programs, we are also happy to help you with fundraising in any way that we can.

For the Veterinary Semester Abroad in Spring 2018, Loop Abroad has a number of $500 awards and a smaller number of awards up to $5000.

If your household income is under $100,000, you are welcome to apply for financial aid. If your household income is over $100,000, but you still would like to request aid because of a special circumstance, please email us. Financial aid determinations include considerations for family expenditures such as private school tuition and upcoming college tuition. If you have any questions, please get in touch with us at

We can also help by providing interest-free payment plans, personalized payment schedules, and fundraising assistance. For summer programs, many students fundraise their entire trip to Thailand. If you need help, please reach out and ask, and we'll do what we can.

This form includes a place to upload a copy of last year's income tax return or FAFSA. If uploading a tax return (1040), you should use your parents' return if they claimed you as a dependent. You may use your own tax form if you filed your own taxes and no one else claimed you as a dependent. Please have that information prepared before you begin the form, as you cannot save an incomplete form and return to it later. Alternatively, you can email that information to us at admissions@loopabroad. Feel free to black out any private information.

Students receiving financial aid are required to make a personal contribution to paying for their travel with Loop Abroad. This can come from personal savings, work, fundraising efforts, seeking outside scholarships or grants, or securing funds from their school or other supportive entity. Whatever percentage this amount is of the total trip cost, it is a chance for students to make this trip possible for themselves.

In a few sentences, please describe how you, the student, might plan to raise your contribution to your summer experience.

Please enter the amount of financial aid requested. For summer programs, the available awards are $500 and $1000. For the semester program, awareds range from $500 to $5000. Financial aid does not cover the $50 Application Fee or the cost of airfare.

We understand that sometimes a tax form alone does not reflect all the information relevant to a student's or family's financial situation. If you have any additional information you would like us to consider, such as tuition or medical expenses, please feel free to include it here.

Please upload a copy of the first two pages of last year's 1040 (or equivalent) personal income tax form for the applicant's parent(s) or guardian(s). If parents or guardians filed separately, please upload both forms.

If you have trouble uploading the file, it can be emailed to us at College students may upload their FAFSA documents if they prefer.

If you have any questions about this form or would like to talk with us about financial aid in your particular situation, please don't hesitate to give us a call at (617) 412-0838.
