First Time Abroad?

If you've never traveled abroad before, you might be a little nervous about what the process entails. Don't worry! While part of the fun of travel is encountering unexpected things and being excited about your trip, we'll do whatever we can to help you be prepared and ready for your Thailand experience.

In order to travel abroad, you will need a passport. If you are a US citizen, you do not need to get a visa or any mandatory vaccinations in order to go to Thailand. You do not need to have your passport yet to apply for a program. Once you are accepted and decide to attend, you can apply for a passport at your local Post Office or passport office.

All of our students fly with the group from New York. Loop Abroad staff will be able to meet you at the airport when you arrive and help you meet your group. You and your group will fly together with a Loop Abroad staff member to Thailand, where the team will be waiting at the airport to pick you up!

You will never be alone during your trip. And we will be available before your trip to answer questions about everything from what to pack to what to wear on the flight to how much spending money to bring. You will find that Thailand is exciting and different, but that it is easier than you might think to adjust. Most people in Chiang Mai speak English, wifi is available to chat with your family and friends at home, Starbucks is right down the street from our house, and you can get everything from Coca-Cola and Oreos to Pantene and Kleenex at the 7-11s on every corner... along with chili squid snacks and lots of green tea.
