Cultural Exploration and Weekends: Your adventure isn't all about teaching and learning. Whether playing soccer with the village children, visiting a local family, learning to pick coffee, or joining on a construction project, there will be lots to see and do during our time in Ban Lao. There may even be elephants living right nearby! But we'll also have two weekends to escape to the beautiful city of Chiang Mai and refresh! Swim in the pool, spend a Saturday ziplining the jungle or learning to cook Thai food, spend a day getting close-up with the elephants at Elephant Nature Park, and explore the city via tours, temples, and markets. All activities are included in your tuition.

Teach to Travel Experience: Thailand This two-week program is a chance to live in a hilltribe village in the mountains of Thailand and get certified in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). Students spend the weekdays living in a Thai Hilltribe village as a part of the school community, and spend the weekends in Chiang Mai soaking in the city life.

We designed our Teach to Travel Experience with the knowledge that not everyone is sure what they want to do when they graduate or even what classes to take next semester. We’ve been there! So, we want you to look at the Teach to Travel Experience as providing the key to unlocking an opportunity to live and work abroad after you graduate, to live a life that’s filled with travel while you’re deciding what’s next. With a college diploma and a TEFL certification (Teacher of English as a Foreign Language) you’ll have opportunities to work as an English teacher virtually anywhere on the planet.

Job Preparation Assistance: This isn't just a summer travel program. Your Teach to Travel Experience is two weeks of hands-on learning that will help you decide what you're going to do when you graduate. Two weeks of teaching experience in a classroom earning a certification that will virtually assure that you're able to find a job teaching English abroad. And, when you graduate from college, we'll help you find a job in the field. Loop Abroad Job Placement Assistance for Teach to Travel Experience alumni is a program we started to help former students find jobs teaching English abroad. We'll help you with your resume, cover letter, and prep you for job interviews in the field. You'll also have a letter of recommendation from Loop Abroad verifying your skills.

TEFL Certification: Many TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) programs are online and can be completed in a weekend – these come with little to no support or evaluation and are generally not respected by the teaching community. The best TEFL-certification programs have 100 hours of instruction and at least 6 hours of teaching observation and feedback.

A TEFL certification is a great introduction to the world of teaching, and it is exceptionally useful if you are interested in teaching or working abroad. Teaching in another country is an amazing way to offer your skills while you learn about and connect to that country in a unique way, and getting a TEFL certification shows that you are serious about learning how to teach in effective and inclusive ways.

Loop Abroad can provide you with a pass/fail transcript for the course "TEFL Certification with Teaching Practicum" at your request. This course is the academic component of your program. If you are seeking credit from your college or university, please contact us for any assistance needed.

Your own classroom: So what about having your own classroom time? What if that 100 hours of instruction and practice also came with over 10 hours of observed classroom feedback and daily practice running your own classroom for two weeks? What if it came with the chance to get to know your students, introduce and lead extracurricular activities, work in their community and with their families, and have the immersion experience of a lifetime, all with experienced teachers on hand to help you handle challenges as they come along?

We thought that would be amazing. That would really be learning to teach. And we found a way to do so without disrupting the students' learning or taking away from their regular instruction. If you’re ready to work hard, immerse yourself in another culture, try your hand at jungle living, and learn what teaching English is all about, this program is for you!
