Spicy Thai
Spicy Thai hostel is our home and home base in Chiang Mai and is closed to the public to accomodate our group. Spicy Thai is located out of the city center in a gated residential community. The neighborhood is home to Chiang Mai’s mayor, and the gate is staffed twenty-four hours a day.
The converted home of a former US Ambassador, Spicy Thai three dorm-style rooms and a number of private rooms. Students will be assigned to dorms by gender. Each dorm is air-conditioned with its own bathroom.
Our summer programs have exclusive use of Spicy Thai when we're in town, making it our real home away from home. Students will have the use of a shared kitchen and dining room, where many of our meals will be prepared and eaten.
Spicy Thai also features a classroom where we will hold leadership meetings and Thai language classes, and have a place to work on summer portfolios. In addition, an open area and rooftop deck are available for our use, and will be used for twice-weekly optional yoga classes.
The hostel is consistently ranked as one of the top two hostels in all of Asia. Besides a tranquil and safe environment, it provides air conditioning in both bedrooms and common areas, free Internet service, laundry service, and two vehicles to transport us to field sites.
The Spicy Thai full-time staff will be on hand to keep the facility clean and functioning properly. Because our program has exclusive use of the property during our program, we can ensure students’ comfort and safety. Twenty-four-hour CCTV coverage is part of our security system, and all full-time staff and faculty live in the hostel with students.
