Trip Leader

Rachel Rees

Rachel holds a BS in Marine Vertebrate Biology from Long Island University and a Masters of Science in Sustainable Development and Conservation Biology from the University of Maryland. She spent several years with the US Fish and Wildlife Service in California and has worked with seals, dolphins, sea turtles, and fish in the wild. She has also enjoyed leading Snore & Roar programs at the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington, DC.

She is passionate about conservation and enjoys discussing everything from recycling and eco-tourism to alternative fuels and farming practices.

Rachel loves traveling and has been to 25 countries and even spent a semester abroad in Australia as an undergraduate. She thinks the best part of visiting a new place is learning about local culture and native wildlife. She hopes to one day visit all 7 continents, and possibly even space.

In her spare time Rachel likes photography, reading, exploring new places with her husband, and hanging out with her very cool Savannah cat, Spock.
